Hearing Health Matters: Taking Credit Where It’s Not Due

Hearing Health Matters: David Kirkwood Taking Credit On The Blockbuster Costco-Phonak Story Where It’s Not Due.

Imagine our surprise when our friends over at Hearing Health Matters dispatched an e-mail with this claim:

Hearing News Watch, written by David Kirkwood who has covered the hearing industry since 1990, has become known for being the first to report on important subjects such as Phonak selling hearing aids to Costco…

Excuse me, David, but you had your angle on the story three days after we had the scoop, with us going live at noon EST on Sunday, March 9th here, with our Analysis published the next day. The earliest mention in Hearing Health Matters of the story is on Tuesday March 11th by Holly Hosford-Dunn, and confirmation of our story by you (Kirkwood) on the 12th. Now, Hearing Health Matters is a very good publication with much more content than our little blog, but frankly, we’re a bit surprised that you would try to lay claim to one of our biggest scoops.

No, David: We had the Costco story two full days before first mention in Hearing Health Matters.

We had quite a spike in traffic when our scoop went live, with an all-time high of 4004 hits on Monday the 10th of March. Click to enlarge
